Biography


Born in 1985 in Singapore and currently based there, Adeline Thng is an installation artist. Known for her unique amalgamation of threads and conventional building materials. With a background in Engineering and Textiles Design, from which she graduated from Lasalle College of Art in 2011. Adeline’s artistic focus centers on the interplay of shapes within pictorial space. Reflecting her prowess in revealing beauty and order through simplicity. This quest for harmony in geometric compositions forms the essence of her work.

Adeline's artistic journey highlighted by significant projects. Her pivotal solo exhibition "Cross Road '' in 2017, which marked her turning point into art creation. Additionally, her participation in a site-specific group exhibition in Chinatown “Soul-Searching” in 2016, draws inspiration from the community and exploring space, memory, and time, adds depth to her portfolio. She has exhibited with Art Outreach, Fluxus Gallery, ArtNow Gallery, and the Downtown MRT Line, all within Singapore. Adeline Thng's intricate creations continue to captivate by harmonizing the intricate relationship between shapes, inviting contemplation into the captivating complexity they unveil.

Statement


In Adeline Thng’s artistic practice, she explores the interplay between shapes in pictorial space. She challenges the perception of space with layered reliefs, questioning the boundaries between two and three dimensions. This creates non-representational works over image or narrative. Revealing the inherent beauty and order in simplicity of shapes, and presents it in a captivating and complex manner. To appreciate the delicate balance of shape and space, Adeline aims to find solace in the harmony of geometric compositions.
